Hey Kids! It’s time once again for
Yes! Another year of fun is about to begin at Grace Brethren Church on Atlas Street. As a matter of fact, this will be our 29th year of Awana Clubs at the church!
AWANA is a non-denominational Christian youth organization that is sponsored through local evangelical churches. AWANA is a solid program, with lots of fun and a real devotion to God’s word, the Bible. Each week, over one million boys and girls in around 118 countries get together for AWANA.
This year we will have clubs for boys and girls from three years old up through the senior year of high school. If you are in that age range, we have got a club for you! Here are the clubs:
3-4 year olds: CUBBIESA new adventure for the little ones with the lovable Cubbie Bear. (ask about Puggles club for younger kids) K-2 grade: SPARKSFor the kids who are just starting school. 3-5 grade: T&T ClubThe center of the Awana program - the Ultimate Adventure! 6-8 grade: TrekTrek is geared just for middle schoolers and their needs. 9-12 grade: Journey 24/7For serious high schoolers who want to know God more deeply in their everyday lives. |
Club starts on September 7th 2011, with our traditional gigantic banana split. Fifty or more feet of ice cream will be served to the boys and girls who come for the first night of club.
We meet from 6:29 to 8:15 on Wednesday nights, K-8 Cubbies and Puggles. The high schoolers meet on Thursday.
Dues are $1.25 per night (the first night is free), or you can pre-pay for an entire year for only $34 (an $8.50 savings). Dues help pay for treats, awards, trophies, supplies, and much more. (By comparison, for that amount you could barely get three tickets to the latest hit movie!)
Come for dinner on August 31, 2011, 6:30 -8:30,to register and get important information for this year’s club. There will be games for the kids and a chance to get a head start on this year’s book.
There are a couple of important changes in our club this year - please take note:
|
T&T is changing! AWANA is re-working the T&T program. Instead of the more expensive polo shirt uniform, they are switching to a green t-shirt for 3-4 grade and a blue and white jersey for 5-6 grades. For the next few years we will sell the new uniforms but clubbers who have already purchased the old uniforms will be able to continue wearing them. The new awards are different also, but the handbooks are the same. |
|
We are also taking advantage of this time of change to reorganize our age groups. Starting this year, 6th graders will be part of the Trek program with their fellow middle-schoolers!
DUES: Costs of running the club continue to increase, but we are working to keep things under control and keep things affordable. The nightly dues have been kept steady at $1 for many years but will increase by 25˘ this year, making the nightly dues for 2010-2011 $1.25. There will also be a small increase to certain catalog items as well. To help our faithful families, those who pay for the entire year in advance will still get a discount to the old rate and a discount coupon with a small savings for their handbook and uniform. Those who pay by quarter will get a discount on the dues rate ($9 / quarter) but no coupon. Also, our large family dues discount is still in effect.
CLUB SIZE: If all of our clubbers come back, we may need to limit the size of 1 or more of the younger clubs. If this is the case, registration will be on a first-come basis with preference for returning clubbers and then those who pay yearly.
